I am planning on dual booting Ubuntu and Windows, using Ubuntu for my everyday computing while Windows for Itunes and a few other programs that aren't Linux friendly.

My OS partition has 136 GB of space. Since I am planning on using Ubuntu about 80% to 20% for Windows. How much space should I give Ubuntu during the installation?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks.

FYI, my current load of 10.04 LTS is taking up 7.94GB. (I keep all non-os files on a separate partition.) So I tend to set my Ubuntu OS partition sizes to ~15GB.

I plan on keeping most of my music pictures etc. on an external hd I am expecting for Christmas but I will be using the OS partition for some files, should 30 be plenty.

On a side note, I was under the expectation that Ubuntu needed as must hard drive space as Windows, is this a wrong assumption?

Thanks again.

Each user is different...dependant on how many apps you have loaded. But, my experience, is that Ubuntu is quite a bit less than Windows, at least 1/2 the space. A minimalist load of Linux can be quite small...well under a few GB.

My root partition is 12GB and it isn't half full. I have a separate /home partition though of 60GB, but that is only 15% used atm.
