I am trying to install Ubuntu 10.10. I am completely new to Ubuntu and the installation of an OS that isn't Windows.

I got the error: The ext4 file system creation in partition 1 of SCSI2 (0,0,0) (sdb) failed

I had chosen the option to 'Erase and use the entire disk'

I am installing 10.10 on an HP G62-237 notebook

Dual Core) Intel Pentium Processor T4500
2.30GHz
4GB RAM
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M
320GB (5400RPM)

Do I need to choose to 'specify partitions manually'?
