Hello there.

I have Ubuntu 10.04 with file system EXT4 and dual booting with Vista

The problem is I am about to reinstall Vista which will overwrite Grub 2

I know how to restore Grub2 with the Live CD I currently I only have a Live CD of Ubuntu 8.04 which doesnt support EXT4 neither Grub2

I am on a very limited INTERNET so I cant download the Live CD.

A solution would be the minimal cd image but the download stall at 96%

So is there any solution for me to restore Grub 2???

A solution might be to use a Windows based boot loader to boot Ubuntu and then install Grub from inside your Ubuntu install.

And if you prefer not to, you can keep on using EasyBCD.

Thanks for the fast reply, This EasyBCD looks to be a good solution

I also find on web something called grub4dos which also may work fine

Super Grub2 Disk from this page is another option.

http://www.supergrubdisk.org/

It is just 1.44 MB in size.
