no boot logo after upgrade from lucid to maverick

hi there! so abt a month ago i upgraded my lucid to maverick. there hasn't been a boot logo for ubuntu since then. i took this long to post cuz i was hoping that it was simply a problem w/one of the packages that got upgraded and would've been fixed during the later system updates, but no change.

how can i get the ubuntu boot logo back?
