Hi. I just bought myself an HTPC, and i was thinking id try ubuntu desktop out! But i dont know a lot about linux, so my question is: How does drivers and such work? Are some of them preinstalled like in windows or what? How do i get ahold of the otherwise? My specs are:

i3 540
gigabyte ga-h55-usb3 (using integrated graphics)
4 gb a-data 1333 mhz
terratec cinergy c pci hd tv-card (with ci module)
2x 1500 gb hdd
antec fusion remote black with imon veris rm200 remote
bluray reader

If some kind soul would help me get the drivers for these things i would be ever so thankful!

Thanks in advance / Christopher

Almost always the drivers needed are already part of the kernel or in kernel modules included with Ubuntu. Rare and specialized hardware can be difficult to get working but common hardware like your's is not an issue. Install the Ubuntu system first and then start looking for drivers if something isn't working. If everything works then don't worry about it and continue on. ;)

ypu can always test this by burning an ubuntu live CD and see what works
or an usb witch will work just as good.
You test you like you install

Test with live cd as suggested and see this link. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport
