I'm in the exact same boat. I just installed Ubuntu on a PC using an Asus K8V SE Deluxe mobo and when I try to connect to a wired connection it won't work. I've checked the LED light on my D-link DI-624 router after connecting it to the ethernet card and it won't light up.
I have the install disc for the motherboard drivers that includes the ethernet controller but I can't use the autorun feature for the CD and don't know how to install the Linux driver tar gz file or know if the linux drivers will even work with ubuntu.
I believe the ethernet adapter is the first one on this list: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsWiredNetworkCardsMarvell
which says it should be recognized and everything but it isn't so I don't know what's up.
