To start off with, I have to say I have finally decided to abandon redhat/fedora/centos family for Ubuntu.

I spent 3 grueling days trying to get nx to work on fedora 14. But, it took me a couple of hours to get freeNX going on ubuntu maverick( the setup is by no means a breeze, but at least it works if you follow instructions from here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FreeNX) ). And Ubuntu seems to have excellent community support for ubuntu on the amazon cloud ( thanks to Eric Hammond's alestic.com, CloudInit by canonical etc ).

Also, I could not for the life of me figure out how to install or find the equivalent of resize2fs command in fc14 which was available in ubuntu.

I am no means a linux expert. And this is by no means a exhaustive determination of which flavor of linux is best suited for our environment. But, good ec2 support and getting usability features like NX working is very important to us.

note: on both cases i used the official AMI releases for the cloud.
