I'm having issues with USB, with Ubuntu, but also Windows 7 & while installing both OSes.
It seems like the computer freezes for a while until I press a key on the keyboard.
Examples:
Installing Ubuntu alternative iso from usb. A few files would install, then the system would pause for some time (20s, - 1m) I found that if I pressed enter, install would continue for a few more files, then pause again. If I didn't press anything, the install would probably finish after a day or two.
Similar installing Win 7 (used a program to put the DVD on USB, I don't have an optical drive for this computer). It would take about 10 minutes for the first white bar that appears (~ setup is loading files or something) to finish, while on most computers it's less than a minute.
Post install, problems continue. Sometimes, for no good reason that I can fathom, Ubuntu randomly won't finish booting or shutting down or suspending until I press enter. So far that has been a problem in Win7.

Ubuntu 10.10
Gigabyte GA-MA78GPM-DS2H motherboard.
I have a PCI USB card, but these problems started before I put that in.

Anyone have a clue what's going on?
