I've been using Ubuntu exclusively for several years. Recently I've started playing with torrents via Transmission. After anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours, my internet connection freezes up. Rebooting the router doesn't help but rebooting the modem does. I've tried changing various settings with little effect. Some websites suggest the modem may be dying (it is a pretty old ActionTec). I use Qwest ISP and Glasnost says there is no traffic shaping. My Ubuntu box is connected via ethernet and there are two wireless computers. I was hoping for recommendations for a DSL modem or modem/router - reliable, stable, bulletproof, handles torrents well. Zoom explicitly says it is Linux compatible. Motorola? Intel? What do people have good luck with?
