View Full Version : [ubuntu] What changed in from .22?

Hello Everyone,

Really just a question to see if anyone else has experienced this. I am using an old P4 Samsung laptop, with the dreaded Brookdale 845G chipset for video which caused so much difficulty in previously releases of Ubuntu. Installed the latest 10.10 a few weeks ago and was thrilled to see that the graphics issues seemed to have been fixed in this release. I happily used it fine with kernel (the first kernel update after release). Then, recently, the kernel updated to and with it back came the graphics issues from before. It boots to a black screen. I know about all the workarounds (i915.modeset, xforcevesa, etc.) but none of them work at all. It continues to boot to a black screen with this kernel. However, STILL boots just fine.

Does anyone have any idea what changed with this kernel update?
