View Full Version : [ubuntu] Accuracy of temperature monitors?

December 5th, 2010, 02:36 PM
Lenovo Thinkpad T400
Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit
ATI + integrated graphics
Seagate 500 GB HD

My Thinkpad has constant random shutdowns. When it is shutting down I see some text that says the CPU has reached critical temperature of 127 C. But if I am running a temperature monitor like wmgtemp it says the temp is ~40C. How accurate is a temp monitor like wmgtemp? Does anyone know what is happening?

I previously sent my Thinkpad to Lenovo and they replaced the fan but this has not solved the problem.
