i am installing Ubuntu Linux i want to dual boot i have done this beffore from a live usb but now i dont see the bar thing that lets me chooses how much HD space each OS has

The current installer is slightly different. You don't say which version you are trying to install. You also don't say whether there is any free space on your hard drive for Ubuntu to go into.
