in 10.10 which FS?

When you upgraded to 10.10, did you pick ext3 or 4? Please post a bit about why.

Go for "ext4", it's the latest version and I have had no issues with it.

I use ext3 because I use Acronis products as a backup solution and Acronis still hasn't implemented ext4 support in their current build.
