Upgrade from LTS to LTS?

Hey fellow ubuntu people
I have tried to upgrade from 8.10 to 10.04 so far with no success.
I have attempted both via server and dvd, and via shell to. When i try to upgrade via cdrom it says that it can't upgrade from entrepid to lucid. It won't even update the update manager complains that it cannot connect to software sources.
Anyone any ideas?

Itrepid is not LTS.That is reason why you can not upgrade.If you have separate home do clean install.If you don´t have separate home make one following guide at http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/separatehome

You can upgrade EOL releases. But you need to upgrade 8.10 > 9.04 > 9.10 > 10.04. Lengthy path :-)

Clean install would be a better and easier option.
