I am using Xubuntu 10.10 on a penstick and it works fine. I have resolution above 1024X768 on different laptops that use ATI cards and etc. but the minute I use the penstick on a laptop such as the HP Elitebook 8440p, I get a resolution of 800X600 and I can see that there isnt an xorg.conf file. When I run xrandr it only displays 800X600 at 61 hertz. How does one configure the video settings manually? Also I have installed the nvidia-96 driver and cannot understand why it does not load the driver correctly for this laptop when it used? I need the correct nvidia to load for these types of laptop but also load the appopiate video drivers for different laptops that have different video cards. Can this be done?
