Hello,
I just installed skype on my Ubuntu lucid 10.04
I have some money on my account
When I try the Skype test call I cannot listen to my own voice.
When I call a local number the correspondent cannot hear my own voice.
What can I do now ?
Thanks for your answer :D

Check microphone cables that those are in correct places, blue goes to blue and green to green. ;)

After that check mixer settings.

I had the same problem, with a logitech headset, I install 10.10 and it work out of the box for me!
Try a live cd, install skype and see if works there
you should check the setting first, but for me, my mike would work in other programs, and i could hear people on skype but not talk to them.....

Have you checked the sound settings? S Button>Options>Sound devices> Try the various microphone settings. It is quite good at picking up the Sound Card. A while ago I had to change the settings to the option with "HW" in it.

It doesn't seem to work well (if at all) with Pulse Audio.

From experience, my laptop worked fine with its speakers but the headset wouldn't work.

There is a parameter to change in the sound configuration file.

But before doing all that, try testing your headset first.

Replace it with another headset to make sure headset is fine. Try recording some sound with the sound recorder application.

If all that fails, it probably is your configuration that's not working.

I cannot register any sound with the gnome-sound-recorder.
When I listen to the recorded sound I only hear a breathe.
I checked the Alsamixer adjustments.
My headset is good because I hear the music from an audio CD
How can I check my microphone in another way ?;)

Check microphone cables that those are in correct places, blue goes to blue and green to green. ;)

After that check mixer settings.

I am working with a head set and I cannot miss the two jacks situated in front of the computer (red for MIC)
If I interchange the plugs I cannot hear any more an audio CD ...

But this doesn't test my microphone !
