Perhaps I should start using KDE as of tomorrow, you know 4.5.4 and all that...Maybe this time we'd get on :p

because of solid not requiring HAL right?
looking forward to that too, which is one of the reasons I use KDE SVN.......

actually, in fact, I will be having 4.6 in a few hours.
I seem to be having some very problematic network issues, which cogent is sorting out...

More like let's hope that they've *finally* got kwin optimized to a level where a "minimize animation" doesn't consist of a total of 4 drawn frames. I'd be happy if i could at least get, say 8? I dare not hope for a full series of frames, like with compiz. That's too much to ask for. KDE SC 4 is only at 4.5 yet. Obviously, that's indicative of BETA. :P LOL
Seriously though, other than the above situation, i could settle for 4.5.

If you experiment like me and get gallium working (theirs regressions, so you have to move backwards through the revisions until it works.....) it performs way better.

And I get 10 frames. Running KDE 4.5 SVN. With trilinear filtering.

And it turned out a construction crew nailed one of the cogent data cables to the ground.....

I've been hearing good things about KDE 4.6 Kwin performance from people who tried the beta. This guy/girl said it "..is smoooooooth"

I can't wait to try it. Should be out for Kubuntu 10.10 soon.

wow... i switched to Kubuntu last week and i thought 4.5.1 was the latest and greatest. i'm now currently upgrading to 4.5.3 and i guess i'll give it a few days to upgrade to 4.5.4.
