hey all,
i've been experimenting with different desktop paradigms, trying to find something that is intuitive, well categorised and easy to use. a couple of changes i have made include removing the desktop completely (to get rid of eye-clutter and distractions, and to force me to categorise data as it's downloaded) and making good use of docky.
one thing i would really like to do is access the application list (i.e the main menu) in a nautilus window. you would type the special uri applications:/// in nautilus and hey presto, there is your main menu all neatly laid out, mac style:

how can i do this? has anybody done it (or anything similar) before?
thanks for reading!
