Me and a few others from our now defunct LUG are working on forming a local Open Source Users Group, and though I've seen a few in other cities I was just curious if anyone has such a group local to them... and if so do you participate? If there is no such group would you participate if one were in your area?
This was the second LUG I helped start in our area in the last 10 years, and though each LUG ran for about 2-3 years each there's just not enough momentum in our community to keep a group dedicated to Linux going. So my thought is to change it to a more Open Source centric group and try to relaunch it.
Any thoughts on this? The goal would be to advocate Free and Open Source Software, and though I could see many of the conversations leaning more towards Linux I'd like to see the group encompass all open source software, even for Windows and OSX users.
