View Full Version : [ubuntu] Disturbing error message from Dell Optiplex 1150

November 29th, 2010, 06:33 PM
I have recently started receiving an error message from this computer at boot-up. It says:

"WARNING: Dell's Disk Monitoring System has detected that drive 0 on the primary EIDE Controller is operating outside of nornal specifications. It is advisable to immediately back up your data and replace your hard drive disk by calling your support desk or Dell Computer Corporation.

Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility."

When I first received this error message, I had Ubuntu 9.10 on the machine. I have since used the Ubuntu disk to check the disk for errors and it found none. I took Ubuntu off and installed Puppy Linux 5.1.1 but I am still getting the message.--so I guess the version of Linux I am running has nothing to do with the problem. I am not sure what to do. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks. http://murga-linux.com/puppy/images/smiles/icon_idea.gif

PS: Windows is not installed on this machine.
