Running Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit with nVidia video drivers. 6GB RAM.
Compiz enabled.

When I open a document in Open Office and do the "window shade rollup" by double clicking on the window title bar, the menu items font changes from normal to a smudged out appearance. By smudged out, it looks like the menu items background color takes on the color of the desktop.

To duplicate this, you might have to roll the window shade up and down a few times. Most times mine will smudge the menu items but not all times.

If I minimize the window and then open it back up, the menu items font are normal.

Is there some setting in Compiz that will fix this?

Are you sure it's something that is being caused by compiz? Have you tried disabling compiz to see if the problem continues? In case you don't know how to do that, just right click your desktop and select "Change Desktop Background" then go to the "Visual Effects" tab and selet None. Your screen will flash and compiz will be disabled. If the problem continues while compiz is off, I doubt there is anything compiz could do to fix it.

I turned off Compiz and I don't have those problems I described above.
Apparently its something to do with Compiz of the nVidia driver.
