I just did a clean install of Ubuntu 10.10 x64 from a USB stick because I'm waiting for my ODD to come. The installation went fine but when I boot Ubuntu (also have Windows 7 on this computer)I get this message:
Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
-Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
-Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
-Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
-Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/bd1a42d5-f763-4058-9d3f-c05dc3c463cb does not exist.
Dropping to a shell!
I have no idea what this means. I've used Ubuntu many times before and never had this problem. What do I do?
