The only way I've found that reliably and permanently turns off my touchpad tapping is to use mouse preferences. I only really want to turn it off when I'm typing and preferably I'd like to bind that tick box to a key.
Is there anyway of doing this?
I've tried the methods here
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad

and they just don't 'stick' particularly pressing a key seems to turn the touchpad back on - which pretty much fails what I'm trying to do.
So although I have a work around, I'd like to make it easier.
