Well this is the first time I've ever really installed Ubuntu... lol. I have Jolicloud on my netbook and decided to buy a Mac mini to replace my HP Pavilion notebook. Here's the problem.

I downloaded the .iso, made a bootable USB, and my notebook is stuck at the orange/white dots thing ._.

Now... what's wrong?

EDIT: Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop ;)

Could be a bad .sio, do you not even get as far as the screen to choose to try before install? there should be an option there to check the iso's stability, try running that if you can get there, if you don't you may need a new .iso

Try pressing F6 during boot to access the boot options

Try some like acpi=off or nomodeset

Also check

Okay thanks guys! It was at the loading stage for like 6-7 hours :(

I went to the Run to install (idr the name of the menu selection) and...

@secondposter I shall try that.

EDIT: Its a USB, should I put it on a CD? o.o and idk when to press the down arrow key.
2EDIT: Kernel could not find install (checking error code again)

Could not find kernel image.

it sounds 'Jeffed'
If you can burn it to a cd and do the media check after burning it
Then try

I shall try that. I installed Fedora (happy with it, not so much :/) and my CD drive won't open.. so how will it open if I want to install Ubuntu?! e.e

EDIT: It randomly opened and its working... So, could I burn the ISO on a DVD? :S
