View Full Version : [ubuntu] 9.04 to 9.10 upgrade malfunction

This is horrible!!! After I finished the upgrade, everything is running super slow (I'm actually writing this on my Vista). One thing that I did different during the installation process was keeping my grub's menu.lst file intact so it's the same as it was before (still showing 9.04 on the title). Should I completely reformat my ubuntu partition and install 9.10 from scratch??? (I have a feeling I do)

see if this helps first:


sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
I wrote a program for dpkg/apt blunders which routinely saves my buttocks. It's called apt-oops. It won't protect you from every problem but it definitely helps in the event you have packages gone or they're replaced by others and it completely blasts your system. you can get the .deb on my website with the link below.

You should try booting with a different kernel at the grub menu and see if that helps, too.
