View Full Version : [ubuntu] 10.10 Grub Menu Entry Error

Hi,

I've read the documentation but still am not sure how to do this.

Grub has 2 entries for Windows:

Windows Vista /dev/sda1
Windows Recovery Environment /dev/sda2

The problem is /dev/sda1 is actually Windows Recovery Environment and /dev/sda2 is Windows Vista.

All I want to do is edit the test in the menuentry but Grub2 does not seem to have a simple way of doing this?

Help appreciated.

Mark

This seems to happen from time to time, usually with Vista in my experience.
It is easier to just live with it and remember to choose the recovery loader to boot Windows.
However it is possible to re-label them using drs305's guide below. It isn't easy but I managed it (after reading the guide 100 times!)

Good luck :-)
Just take your time and be careful!
Above all make sure you are actually in the file you think you are.
