While i m installing different OS named mandriva as well as ubuntu..
i had felt a doubt on bootloader.

Is the bootloader "GRUB" same for all linux platforms?

If no then why we say it as an open source?

NO there is grub-legacy, and now grub2. As far as what open source is see Google.
