Kubuntu Version: 10.04 Lucid Lynx

I am a new Kubuntu user and Linux in general. I have installed Kubuntu and nvidia drivers.

The problem is, when I go to NVIDIA X Server Settings and change the resolution from 1024x768 to 1152x864, even though it applies the new resolution successfully, but when I copy the xorg.conf generated by nvidia into /etc/X11/xorg.conf and reboot, it doesnt boot into kde, it just shows the terminal 1, and when I go to the terminal Ctrl+Alt+F8 it is stuck at "Checking battery states [OK]".

So, I replaced xorg.conf with xorg.conf.failsafe and chaged driver to 'nvidia':

Driver "nvidia"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"

EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Monitor "Configured Monitor"
Device "Configured Video Device"
EndSection

and it again boots into KDE, boot the resolution is 1024x768.

What might be the problem with the nvidia generated xorg.conf?

I even tried forcing it to 60 Hz refresh rate which works for 1152x864 resolution on my monitor by appending '_60' to the resolution in meta mode option of Screen.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
