No sound with upgrade to 10.10

Hi Folks,

I've googled and searched this forum and find no clues on how to figure out why my sound cut out when I upgraded from 10.4 to 10.10.

I tried 10.10 before and remember that for some reason it began muted. Well, that's not the problem this time.

I went to sound in preferences and didn't see anything alarming or informing.

Nevertheless, I lack sound and don't know how to do figure out what I'm missing.

I see you don't sound happy, im not sure how much you know than me, but when i had an issue with my sound i went to preferences and just changed the hardware devices around until i got something out of it? sorry if this is no use.
