View Full Version : [SOLVED] Boot loader help

I am just wondering if it is possible to set Windows Vista's boot loader as the default boot loader rather than GRUB. So, the boot loader is Windows Vista and offers the options to jump into Windows or Ubuntu.

Currently, it just opens up into GRUB and offers various versions of Ubuntu and of course, the option to boot into Windows.

Is this possible?

All help and support is very much appreciated.

You can use EasyBCD then.

But remember, Grub is far better than that (say it my personal opinion) :-P

Can I ask - Why?

I will keep that in mind when I do get attached to Ubuntu. I went to that link and downloaded it and this is what Archive Manager returned: "Archive: /tmp/EasyBCD 2.0.2.exe
[/tmp/EasyBCD 2.0.2.exe]
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /tmp/EasyBCD 2.0.2.exe or
/tmp/EasyBCD 2.0.2.exe.zip, and cannot find /tmp/EasyBCD 2.0.2.exe.ZIP, period."

Thanks for your support, sikander3786.

Edit 1: Do I execute this program in Windows or Ubuntu? I figured executables are still the same extension in both OS's.

It's because you have to run it in Windows :) Ubuntu is trying to open it as an archive.

I was hoping you would not say that. Windows takes a while to load up, another reason to use Ubuntu. I will do that now then, thank you.
