Printer installs but wont print...asks for password

I installed the printer on my linux laptop and the printer is installed correctly but will not print it asks for a user name and password.
The printer is a network printer that is hooked to a Win XP machine with all the current updates. I can not find a resolution to this issue.....HELP!!!!!!!!

You mention that it asks for a user name and password, but did not say if you tried anything. Try entering the details of a user on the Windows machine that has access to the printer. Also check your firewalls on both machines to allow ports 137,138,139 and 445.

Im sorry I did try both the information for the Linux machine and the Windows machine with no luck. I did not install it under samba, I just did a regular network printer.
