My mother's laptop had windows vista on. It stopped booting windows. I used my laptop to download the 64bit version of Ubuntu, I burned the disc wrong but didn't realise, tried the 32bit one, burned correctly. I tried installing but couldn't do it well so just wiped everything, Ubuntu failed to install anyway. It just stopped. I decided to use the "Try Ubuntu" option, that worked fine, and did so for a couple days until it just stopped booting completely.
I installed the 64bit version onto a CD, same result, absolutely nothing.

PS. The laptop's processor is AMD Athlon 1.9Ghz 64bit

Edit: I forgot to say, I've read a few guides, the CD/DVD ROM is the primay booting option.

I think the motherboard failed, first hd problems then no hd boot and not boot altogether. my best guess is it is the motherboard
