I am hearing a struggling noise inside my computer. When trying to locate the noise, I took out the HD but still heard the awful noise, then took out the RAM but still heard it, & I stopped the fans inside with my hands & still heard it, & took out the CD drive & still heard it & it sounded like it was either coming from the CPU or the power supply which must have a fan inside of it. I am using this same computer right now. Obviously, I reconnected everything but I'm not hearing the noises at the moment.

Most ATX-variant Power Supplies have a standard 80mm fan in them.
Some of the more expensive ones have a 120mm(DVD-size) fan.

The problem is that even though they are standard PC fans,
they are usually hard-wired in - soldering (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldering) work is required to replace them.

You're not supposed to, but I have been known to open them up and put a drop or two of 3-in-1 oil on them - they run smooth as silk for a few more months. If these fans ever completely fail and are left alone long enough they can present a Fire Hazard!
