I have a comment for the Ubuntu community. Lately, Microsoft has been using the slogan "Windows: Life without Walls." How about a similar slogan to Linux?

Linux: Life without Windows

I switched from Windows to Linux about 2 years ago. I'm sure happy I did! Now 3 of my 4 computers are running Ubuntu variants (the other one is a Mac). I'd like to thank the Ubuntu community and developers for their continued efforts.

How about:
In a world without walls, who needs Windows and Gates?

No, I didn't make that up, I've seen it all over the place. :)

A slogan is part of an identity.
What would it say to people that Ubuntu's identity were based on another's?

Linux: Life without Windows
This make believe you will remain just with walls and roof. :\

@phrostbyte: sounds good... but Gates there's no more. Now we are with the two Steve(s) :KS

@Oxwivi: that's the Ubuntu slogan, not the Linux

What about..
Linux: your future is now open.
?

Edit: never mind, already taken (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I7k2T8mi5o)

EDIT: second try! What about...
Linux: your sources to innovation/future

Oops, my bad. Right, there's no GNU/Linux slogan as far as I know.

But Gates still means something despite the Steve(s). :P

How about the famous, "a computer is like air conditioning" quote?

That slogans only "works" in english, linux is used worldwide, so better look for one global one, that can be translated in other languages.

Also isn't even that original: http://www.visualjokes.com/d/car_win.html
let's stick with something that talk about Linux instead of... something else

What something that contain "open" and "source"?

"Linux... your source [blablabla] open [blabla]"

keywords to consider: open, source, gnu, penguin (fly), community, freedom, secure
