I don't know who flagged the other thread as SOLVED, but this is still BUSTED BADLY WITHOUT HOPE OF RESOLUTION. Bug filed on launchpad quite some time back, still not ranked or assigned. Bug has migrated forward to 10.10, both 32-bit and 64-bit.
No work around has been offered for the installation. System does hang and many require a hard reboot to recover.
