Hi all,
First timer with custom kernel upgradation.I wanted to upgrade the kernel from here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.36-maverick/ (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/%7Ekernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.36-maverick/)
The dilemma is I don't know what to do with the patches available there.I would be grateful if someone could shed some light whether I need those patches or the kernel is already patched with the patches mentioned.
If those patches are needed then what is the procedure to patch them (even if not needed I would like to know the procedure, just to gain some knowledge).
I have searched the internet and all state that the patches should be in bz extension or some other extension and as you can see the patches available with the above mentioned site are with .patch extension.(I would be grateful if someone could tell me why are they in .patch extension,I have been at their irc channel but didn't get a reply for a very long time.)
I do know how to install the kernel, all I need to know is what to do with the patches available on the above mentioned site.

Thank you for replying dino99,but as I mentioned before I do have all the documentation required for kernel upgradation. What I would like to know is what the patch in the above website stands for (hell they are in .patch extension). Do I need to compile those patches in my kernel. If so what would be the procedure.
P.S: Do note these patches have .patch extension which has raised the dilemma of how to use those patches in the kernel.

GOD bless
