Who decided that the window buttons for Mac and Linux would go on the left and Windows would go on the right?

Err... well... Ubuntu buttons used to be on the right before the design change. :P

I think that perhaps it's to woo Mac users. Maybe Ubuntu's strategy boffins want to acquire users from the Apple world rather than from MS? Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about?

i dunno, but i like it!
at first i didnt care to try them on the left..
but now it is the only way i like it anymore. lol

When I use a theme that puts them back on the right side again..
i get annoyed, and think to myself.. "c'mon! just do it 'right'!" lol
