View Full Version : [ubuntu] Why is the 10.04 install so faulty?

I have two machines here at home that it simply won't install on either, keeps bailing with errors. On one machine it bails with an error while copying the files. On another it installs everything and fails to install the bootloader. I've tried burning the image to another disk but get the same issues. Both machines have good hard drives that previously had Ubuntu 9.04 installed on them. I chose to erase and use the entire disk for each one.

I managed to install Grub using the LiveCD as instructed on the Grub recovery page and it worked for *one* boot. The next boot I got Kernel panick. I have NO problems installing 9.04 on these machines so what the heck is wrong with 10.04?? This is driving me so nuts I'm beginning to lose my temper here.

OK, so I got it working by first going into "Try Ubuntu" then doing the install from there. Worked fine. Don't know why it worked that way but refuses to work straight from the Install option but it did.
