So, every time I restart and log in, my compiz settings are put back to their default. I have customized things like window open/close animations, and those settings are preserved, it's just that they're disabled, and the default things are enabled.
I've tried going to Startup Applications and clicking "Remember currently running application," as suggested elsewhere, but to no avail.
I'm running Ubuntu Studio 10.04 on a Dell XPS M1530. My hard drive is partitioned into Windows, Home (ext3), and Ubuntu (ext4).
Maybe it's a driver issue? My graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 8600M) needs a proprietary driver, so maybe that's loaded after my desktop settings?
