hi to everyone
im a new ubuntu fan here and would like to have some help with my problem...
i would like to have any advice regarding dual booting of ubuntu...
i have a windows xp 32 bit os and im trying to dual boot it with ubuntu 10.10 64-bit
i have a 500gb sata hard disk with 5 partitions
i burned the installer in a dvd...
when i boot my computer to the cd,
it will show try ubuntu and install ubuntu...
now when i click install ubuntu and goes to the window which asks to install alongside os, erase entire disk and use it and the on that install in parttions which says advanced users

when i select insall alongside os and click the hard disk which in turn will select what partition it will install then i click install

it will install successfully but when i try to boot up, it will still have windows 7 and no ubuntu option to select.

meaning i have successful installation yet the partition where i installed it is not recognized so it will not show up as 2nd os.

if you guys have a better suggestion, please help me.....

thanks...

Use the Boot info Script in my signature and post it back here.

Please boot from the live cd and choose "try ubuntu", then when the desktop appears please go to the site below and download the boot script to your DESKTOP then open a terminal and run the command given on the first page of that site. This will produce a results.txt file on your desktop. Please copy the contents of that file and paste it between CODE tags in your next post. For CODE tags click on New Reply (not quick reply) and then click on the # symbol in the toolbar.
This will give a full overview of your system.
Thanks.

I have already installed ubuntu and i'm seeing it as another option

what i did is...
i made an unallocated 80gb and installed ubuntu there as a ext4

but when i'm trying to boot to ubuntu, it shows the grub command

did i made any wrong with my installation?

i made my 80gb as primary, then installed it in the beginning as / mount
and i directed to install the bootloader on the same partition

thanks...
