The update to Ubunutu 10.04 that occurred on 11/18 has caused my machine to lock up when starting the X server. I'm assuming it has something to do with the updates to the following packages:

xserver-common (2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.3) to 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.4
xserver-xorg-core (2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.3) to 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.4

I'm also guessing it has something to do with my ATI graphics card (a Radeon 5850). I've tried updating to the latest ATI driver (10.10) but that hasn't helped.

My machine boots but starting the X server causes the machine to lock up and display a bunch of vertical white lines on the monitor. I can start up in safe mode (which I'm using now) but that's about it. I have a dual monitor setup but turning that off doesn't seem to help either.

Any help resolving this issue would be appreciated. I've attached my latest X server log file if that is any help.
