I've been thinking about picking up a netbook for some time now. I hate traveling with a full-sized laptop and while I can check my email with my phone, I want something that will provide a little more power for browsing the internet.

While I appreciate that they kept the price down while boosting the processor and memory I think the six-cell battery upgrade is pretty much a must-have for me.

I would get the ZaReason Terra instead

The screen has a better resolution and is an inch bigger.
Sure a comparable set up is about $100 more but a reolution of 1024x600 is just so annoying.

EDIT just realized the Zareason is only single core ATOM, Sooo that stings a bit.

It is a higher res display but I'm a little concerned about squeezing 1366 pixels into a display that's only a little bit wider. And as you noted, single core plus just half the memory of the Starling. By the time I'm done pimping both with equivalent extras, I'm at $596 as opposed to $473 for the Starling. (500GB drive, 6cell battery, 2GB memory) and I'm still left with a single core Atom.
