System hangs after install

Hello all,


- I ran the most recent WUBI installer, requiring 64 bit Ubuntu.
- It gets as far as the GRUB screen, showing me
Ubuntu Linux 2.6.32-24-Generic.
- Upon so selecting, the system appears to hang, or at least shows no display
(black screen), necessitating a hard reboot.

System info: Recent HP workstation, Xeon E5504, Win7 64 bit, 12GB,
NVIDIA Quadro NVS 295, DVI-D.

I will very much appreciate your advice on how to proceed, and/or pointers to threads in which the issue has been discussed and resolved.

I had the same problem.

Boot in recovery mode and then choose low graphics mode. Then connect to the internet and install some better graphics drivers.
