I downloaded and put Ubuntu 10.10 on both a CD Disk, and a USB Flash Drive.

Both times, the screen would say "SYSLINUX 3.82 2009-06-09 EBIOS Copyright (c) 1994-2009 H. Peter Anvin et al"

That will literately stay on my screen forever, I booted my computer from the USB Device at 11:00 PM, and came back to my computer at 8:30 PM the next day, and it was still on there.

I was wondering, if I could find a previous version of Linux, install that, and then update the older one to 10.10? Would that work? and where could I find an older version of Linux? (I know that 9.04 works, but my disk for it is scratched beyond repair)

You could do that, yes. Previous versions can be found on http://releases.ubuntu.com/

You could also check your 10.10 iso image MD5SUM.
