I am not into the Unity thing, and decided to look into Gnome 3 to see why no one wanted it...

Yea, I just now noticed what Gnome-Shell was. I thought it was some kind of optional add on feature for gnome, and all I have to say is ICK! I regret to say I will not be using that as my desktop. I just tried it to see if I could tolerate it, and I simply cannot. I am so glad E17-Enlightenment just went Beta 2 because I might make it my main Desktop. I just settled into Linux. I just want my menu(s),workspaces, panels, and icons.

I dunno I am kinda unhappy now... Wish I didn't look it up.

After looking around though looks like I am not the only one...

I felt the same way. Feels like change for the sake of change, not for the sake of user necessity. The functional gripes with the GNOME 2.x concept seem to be few and far between.

I was skeptical at first, but trying it, I rather enjoyed it. Its still a bit buggy, so I went back to gnome 2 but thats a dead end technology wise.

You night have also looked into how many other threads there are on gnome-shell and unity - not muchpoint in another "I hate this" thread.
