I am not one of their subjects, as far as I know. Therefore no tribute will be forthcoming.

It is not just Great Britain that has a Monarchy, however that is another issue for another thread. Please do not drift.

Well, as in spain, the royal family weddings, are payed with people taxes, so, you are already giving them a gift, the wedding party, the security, the TV show, and the rest of their lives...

The Queen ain't on my money, so I don't care ....
But seriously to the Brits what is the big deal about the Royal Family? I can appreciate the historical lineage and all, but why is so much money and effort put towards allowing them to continue living the lavish lives they do? They don't hold any political roles, do they? Where's their income come from? I'd love to see Prince William or Harry working at McD's, but we probably won't see anything like that happen.

Correct.
I`m a Brit?, as someone has mentioned in this thread whatever that means?????
First impression...... she must be insane.
However, I am a believer in love, idiot that I am.
Her life is now, more than ever before, under the microscope. If she is willing to do that, for him, then she must be both mad and in love ........... perhaps the same thing.
I wish them well. And hope they can have a happy marriage despite all the crap she will have to endure.

And a blank check to disperse the profit from the colonial history as well.
funny thing is I have a friend whose father was knighted, and was at the wedding per invitation from the Royal family at Charles and Diane's nuptials. A foreigner from British extraction yet knighted for the valor, and service in WW2

My mother liked the royal family. That is what my wife always reminds me whenever I am moan about them. By the way the monarch is the head of state but with much less power than any president. Unless, when the monarch is a stag. Then it is dead. Shot to give pleasure to some !!??!!

A good divorce lawyer. Based on William's family history he's going to need one.
As a side-note there are many people in the UK, including myself, who don't see the point of a monarchy and resent funding their existence through the tax system. If only we were more like the French or the Russians. :P
