View Full Version : [ubuntu] Resolution Trouble

I have a system I've set up with Ubuntu 10.10. It runs nicely but I'm trying to increase the display resolution and I'm running into some difficulty.

I have an Nvidia 9400 with the binary driver and a NEC MultiSync 97f monitor. The Monitor's max resolution should be 1280x1024. However, in nvidia-settings the maximum listed resolution is 1360x768. This resolution does not work properly and gives weird results. The next highest option is 1152x864. This works, but is a strange setting by itself.

I'd really like to get to 1280x1024 but I can't figure out how to do this.

Another possible complication is that I've connected this system to the monitor with a KVM switch. I've since removed the KVM and tried to redetect the display but that has not helped. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

My Xorg.conf is :

# nvidia-settings: X configuration file generated by nvidia-settings
# nvidia-settings: version 260.19.06 (buildd@palmer) Mon Oct 4 16:01:38 UTC 2010

but this has not helped.
