Hello,

I want to install Ubuntu 10.10 on the hard disk, but the partition table looks a lot different than in Windows. I have uploaded two screenshots, one of the Disk Management from Windows ( http://oi56.tinypic.com/15y9bgw.jpg ) and another one of GParted ( http://i56.tinypic.com/osecub.png ). Also, I can't mount any of the partitions.

Welcome to UF :-)
I suspect that your hard drive has been sabotaged by Microsoft. They have used dynamic disc partitioning. Gparted won't see them, and changing them to basic discs is a pain and will iirc lose all of your data.

Thanks :) Now I'm looking for a software that can make the conversion without losing any data. Hooray for Microsoft... just when I thought I had finished transferring all my data from the old pc to the new one :x
