View Full Version : [ubuntu_studio] Installing Studio Without a DVD

A friend of mine has been using a Vaio desktop as a workstation in his basement recording studio. He hates it because lots bloat + lots of files + a general lack of interest in performing routine Windows maintenance = a crappy computer & a frustrated user.
So, I want to give him an Ubuntu Studio setup that will free him from Vista. However, the Ubuntu Studio image is too large for a CD and I don't have a DVD drive available to me. So I want to use the command line. I've found several different variations of apt-get installations but there are differences between them all.
My request, then, is for an apt-get command that will provide an identical installation to that provided by the DVD.

Thanks

P.S.
I have issues booting from a USB device on this computer, which is why a minimal Ubuntu install + a CL installation of Studio seems like the best option
