ESPN seems to only have NASCAR and funny car racing. I'm looking for legal TV and online viewing of Formula 1 racing and Rally car racing. I have found some online links to online Formula 1, but I'm not sure if their legal. Also the online is good but I also want to know what TV channels carry the races.

Official Youtube page for the World Rally Championship is here
http://www.youtube.com/user/wrc

Of course, if you're looking for live coverage of rallies, then you'll need to find out if any of your local TV stations broadcast them

Speed TV. Your particular area will have different channel designations.

The YouTube link is great. Thanks. Sadly no local stations broadcast F1 or Rallys. Speed TV might be it maybe. I'll continue to look around.

Rally and F1 are both pretty awesome. I haven't seen a lot of either, but what I have seen I liked. It's unfortunate that everyone else here seems to be content with watching mediocre race cars make left turns all day.

Formula 1 end of season race tonight should be very interesting and well worth watching. I also do not see the point in cars going around and around the oval circuits, very boring.
The current Formula 1 season has been one of the best ever.

15 minutes of NASCAR a year at most does it for me. I think F1 is great. Played with rFactor all the time in the past.

I find that F1 is just as boring as indycar/nascar/speedway, its just a different kind of boring.

Rallying on the other hand, those guys are crazy. They have amazing car control and racing with trees, spectators. etc just a metre or two away makes the huge saftey margins/tire walls/etc in F1 look far more boring.

I don't mind speedway, actually. I think cause races are always really short (4/5 laps?), and keeps it from getting boring

F1 is a combination of car physics & driver reaction time. They're not allowed any sort of modern computer technology in the formula races (your bog basic road car has more technology on it than an F1 car.)
It mostly comes down to the driver who has the quickest reactions and makes the least mistakes wins

But yeah, rallying is where it's at

Check out tonights race, you may not have seen this track and an Aussie may take the title, and yes rallying is spectacular.

I havent seen the Abu Dhabi track raced, but its some-old same-old from everything I've seen.

No offence to mark webber, but I wont watch a race just because there is an australian in it, or because they might win (I in fact go the other way, but I'm an anti-patriot in a lot of ways)

The only F1 race I'll actually watch for longer than 4-5 minutes these days is monaco. If they took F1 back to the 80s era (low downforce, huge power from turbos, no/limited telemetry etc), it would be far more watchable, but thats not going to happen.

I find F1 boring, for a while I watched the A1 GP as the cars were identical and there was a bit more action.

Another thing you might wan't to look in to is the European Touring Car races

Never will understand how you guys over there can sit and watch things going around an oval.

WRC is probably the most enjoyable/exciting motor sport to watch. Besides that I enjoy offroad bike enduros/rallies and the annual Dakar.

Really I know theres an engine freeze but an awful lot of cutting edge technology goes into an f1 car . The steering wheel which the cars use costs around £10,000 alone and millions are spent by the teams each year trying to gain an advantage.Quote from the F1 website

A modern Formula One car has almost as much in common with a jet fighter as it does with an ordinary road car. Aerodynamics have become key to success in the sport and teams spend tens of millions of dollars on research and development in the field each year.

Well, according to this: List of Formula One broadcasters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Formula_One_broadcasters)

You're limited to Fox and Speed for F1.

As for WRC, if you get HD Theater you can watch: WRC (http://dhd.discovery.com/tv/world-rally-championship/about.html)

I think HD Theater is an HD only channel, at least it is for me on Directv. And it is by no means a live broadcast...it's more of an after-the-fact recap, but it's the only hour of WRC I can get...
